Getting Great Expressions From Children In Photographs | ArticlesBase.com
Children can be tons of fun and full of energy. When trying to take a photograph of a young adventurous child it can be quite a challenge to get them to sit still. A truly talented children's photographer will be able to find creative ways to get great expressions from their energetic little guests! Here are just a few key things to keep in mind when trying to take great pictures of your children.
If your taking photos of children in a studio setting, it could be much easier for you but keep in mind how intimidating it might be for your little subjects. All the big lights and equipment could easily frighten or intimidate anyone who does not understand what is going on. In this situation it is best to have lots of toys, and cool stuff to keep your little models occupied. If the children are old enough you might even give them a task that will get them involved and make them feel like their part of the process instead of just an object.
A good way to keep children's attention during a photo shoot is to have someone off camera making them laugh and telling them stories. This will give you the freedom to move around and concentrate on your exposure while still being able to get really great expressions. It is important to remember that children's attention span move very quickly so it may be best to have the parents bring a few of the child's favorite subjects, such as stuffed animals, toys or other objects.
Lastly the best thing to keep in mind when photographing children is to keep the photo shoot as easy going and stress free as possible. Over-stimulation when it comes to anyone, but mostly children can cause them to become uncooperative. If a child feels over manipulated it can cause them to shut down and then it will become almost impossible to get any positive expressions.
